Education
I graduated from Brandeis University cum laude in 2012 with majors in Economics and German Language & Literature. A change of heart led me to begin teaching, and as of May 2015, I hold Masters degree in teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education in New York, via the New York City Teaching Fellows program.
Experience
I taught at a gifted public school in Harlem for 2 years, focusing on Middle School mathematics. My licensure is for secondary math, which qualifies me for teaching positions from grades 7-12. My students at the school were a mixture of special education and accelerated students, meaning student abilities ranged from 2nd grade to 10th grade within a classroom. All students saw a year or more of growth. I left the position at my school to begin tutoring, because I wanted more balance in my life while continuing to pursue my love for teaching. If my test scores are in question: SAT: 780 math, 680 verbal, 750 writing AP: 5 Biology, 5 AP English (Composition), 5 AP Environmental Science, 4 Chemistry, 4 AP US History. For math, I completed through Calculus I in college and completed the course with an A-.

Hobbies
Students at my school could never quite get a feel about who exactly I was. On the one hand, I could laugh and joke with the kids - but as soon as we entered the classroom, I could go an entire period without breaking a smile. My lessons were very carefully structured, and I spent countless obsessive hours going through each lesson multiple times, reviewing, revising, re-formatting, and re-structuring them in order to make sure it would be the best possible way to convey a piece of information. I'm naturally an easy-going person, and I like to take everything with a laugh and a smile. When it comes to teaching, however, that is one area of my life where I've learned (through my own shortcomings and struggles) that I should expect nothing but the best from both myself and my students. And so, teaching became a passion! Aside from teaching, I write and record music. I've been writing music since I was 12 or 13, and it's been a mainstay in my life ever since!
